Stump grinding

A stump left at ground level is a trip hazard, a regrowth problem, and a headache for whoever's laying lawn or paving over it later. We grind well below grade, every time, and leave the site ready for whatever comes next.

What it is

Stump grinding mechanically removes a stump and the upper root system to a controlled depth below ground level — usually 300mm, deeper where you're paving or building. We bring the right machine for the access: narrow-access grinders that fit through a standard 760mm side gate, or larger tracked machines for rural and commercial work. Service lines are located before any grinding starts.

When you'd need it

A removed tree has left a stump that's tripping you up or sprouting regrowth

You're laying new lawn, paving, decking or driveway over the area

A stump is in the way of new planting or landscaping

Multiple stumps need clearing on a section before development

Five stumps cleared for a new lawn, Mt Albert

Five stumps cleared for a new lawn, Mt Albert

A client wanted a flat, plantable lawn where five small trees had been removed by a previous contractor. We located the irrigation lines, ground all five stumps to 350mm, removed the arisings, and topped the area up with topsoil. Lawn went down a fortnight later and you'd never know the stumps had been there.
